Particulate Matter Concentrations over South Korea: Impact of Meteorology and Other Pollutants
نویسندگان
چکیده
Air pollution is a serious challenge in South Korea and worldwide, negatively impacts human health mortality rates. To assess air quality the spatiotemporal characteristics of atmospheric particulate matter (PM), PM concentrations were compared with meteorological conditions other airborne pollutants over from 2015 to 2020, using different linear non-linear models such as regression, generalized additive, multivariable regression models. The results showed that played significant role formation, transportation, deposition pollutants. PM2.5 levels peaked January, while PM10 April. Both at their lowest July. Further, was highest during winter, followed by spring, autumn, summer, whereas spring summer. correlated temperature, relative humidity, precipitation. Wind speed had an inverse relationship quality; zonal vertical wind components positively PM, respectively. Furthermore, CO, black carbon, SO2, SO4 positive PM. impact transboundary on concentration also elucidated mass trajectories.

Health impact assessment of particulate matter in Sanandaj, Kurdistan, Iran
Air pollution is a major environmental issue in all regions of the world. We aimed to assess the health impacts of particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter 10 µm (PM10) in Sanandaj, Kurdistan, Iran. The air pollution data were obtained from Sanandaj Department of Environment Protection. The annual mortality and morbidity, including cardiovascular and respiratory diseases attributable to...
متن کاملImpact of particulate matter on mothers and babies in Antwerp (IPANEMA): a prospective cohort study on the impact of pollutants and particulate matter in pregnancy
INTRODUCTION Air pollution is a hot topic and is known to cause multiple health issues. Especially pregnant women seem to be vulnerable to environmental issues. There are data suggesting that exposure contributes to hypertensive disorders. This study aims to evaluate the effects of exposure to particulate matter (PM) and outdoor air pollutants on the clinical pregnancy outcome for mother and chi...
متن کاملRegional contributions to particulate matter concentration in the Seoul metropolitan area, South Korea: seasonal variation and sensitivity to meteorology and emissions inventory
The impact of regional emissions (e.g., domestic and international) on surface particulate matter (PM) concentrations in the Seoul metropolitan area (SMA), South Korea, and its sensitivities to meteorology and emissions inventories are quantitatively estimated for 2014 using regional air quality modeling systems. Located on the downwind side of strong sources of anthropogenic emissions, South K...
متن کاملPnm-20: The Impact of Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Particulate Matter on Spontaneous Abortion
Background: Epidemiological evidence suggests that fine particulate air pollution, particularly particles less than 10 microns in diameter (PM10) exposure adversely affects pregnancy outcomes and usually aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene bound to fine particles. We evaluated the impacts of PM10 and benzene on spontaneous abortion of first trimester of pregnancy in Tehran. Materials and Meth...
متن کاملGaseous pollutants in particulate matter epidemiology: confounders or surrogates?
Air pollution epidemiologic studies use ambient pollutant concentrations as surrogates of personal exposure. Strong correlations among numerous ambient pollutant concentrations, however, have made it difficult to determine the relative contribution of each pollutant to a given health outcome and have led to criticism that health effect estimates for particulate matter may be biased due to confo...
